Terms of Service
Last updated: August 7, 2026 · Effective: August 7, 2026
The short version.
- Vued is free. There's nothing to buy and no subscription.
- You need to be 13 or older and you're responsible for what you post.
- Your reviews and lists stay yours. You give us permission to display them in the app — nothing more.
- Harassment, hate, spam, spoilers-as-weapons, scraping, and impersonation get content removed and accounts closed.
- Film and TV data comes from TMDB. Vued isn't endorsed by TMDB, and their artwork isn't ours to license to you.
- You can walk away whenever you like — deleting your account is one screen away and it's permanent.
The full terms below are what actually governs. Read §11 to §17 in particular; those are the ones that limit what you can claim from us.
1. Accepting these Terms
These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and the operator of Vued ("Vued", "we", "us"), contactable at support@vuedapp.com. By creating an account or using the Vued app or vuedapp.com, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use Vued.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information and forms part of this agreement.
2. Who can use Vued
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if your country sets a higher minimum age for consenting to data processing. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You must not be barred from using the service under applicable law or sanctions, and you must not create an account after we've closed a previous one of yours for breaking these Terms.
3. Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account.
- Give us accurate information. Don't impersonate anyone, and don't pick a username designed to make people think you're someone else.
- One person, one account. Don't run bulk or automated accounts.
- Tell us at support@vuedapp.com if you think someone else has got into your account.
4. What it costs
Vued is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no paid tiers. If we ever introduce paid features we'll say so clearly and they won't take away anything you already have without notice.
5. Your content
You keep it
Your reviews, rankings, comments, collections, tags, avatar, and banner are yours. We don't claim ownership of any of it.
What you let us do with it
So that Vued can actually work as a social app, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and display your content, and to distribute it to the other users your privacy settings permit. That licence exists for one purpose — operating and improving Vued — and it ends when you delete the content or your account, except where a copy has to persist briefly in a backup, or where someone else's copy of it legitimately exists (for example, a comment you left on someone else's post that they haven't deleted, or a shared collection others contribute to).
We will not sell your content, license it to third parties for their own use, or use it in advertising.
What you're promising us
By posting content, you confirm that:
- You have the rights to post it and to grant the licence above.
- It doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
- If you tag another Vued user as a watch companion, you're not using that to harass them.
Feedback
If you send us a suggestion, bug report, or feature idea, we're free to use it without owing you anything. That's not us claiming your ideas broadly — it just means we can act on feedback without a licensing negotiation.
6. Rules of conduct
Don't use Vued to:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse anyone, or to organise others to do it.
- Post hate speech — content attacking people over race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- Post sexually explicit material, gratuitous violence, or content that sexualises minors in any way.
- Post spam, chain content, scams, phishing, malware, or unsolicited promotion.
- Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
- Post someone else's private information, or content you don't have the rights to.
- Deliberately spoil plot points in a way designed to ruin things for others — a candid review is fine; a username or comment engineered to put an ending in front of people who didn't ask for it isn't.
- Manipulate rankings, leaderboards, or taste-match at scale — bulk or automated comparisons, coordinated ranking, or fake accounts.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from Vued; probe or circumvent our rate limits, authentication, or access controls; or use Vued's backend through anything other than the Vued app.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app, except to the extent that right can't be excluded by law.
- Interfere with the service or with anyone else's use of it.
7. Moderation and enforcement
Anyone can report a post, review, comment, collection, or user from inside the app.
- When a post, review, or collection is reported by three or more people, it's automatically hidden pending review. That's an automatic, temporary measure — not a conclusion that you did anything wrong.
- Whole profiles are never hidden automatically. Suspending an account is a decision a person makes.
- We can remove content, hide it, restrict features, or suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms. For anything other than a clear and serious breach we'll aim to tell you why and give you a chance to respond, and you can always appeal to support@vuedapp.com.
- We're not obliged to monitor content, and we don't pre-screen it. Reviews on Vued are opinions of the users who wrote them, not ours.
- Copyright. If you believe something on Vued infringes your copyright, email support@vuedapp.com with the work concerned, where it appears in Vued, your contact details, and a statement that you're authorised to act. We'll remove infringing material and may close repeat infringers' accounts.
8. Other people on Vued
Vued shows you other users' rankings, reviews, and activity. We don't endorse or verify any of it. Following someone, comparing taste match, or taking a recommendation is your call.
You can block a user, which severs the connection in both directions; mute them, which hides their activity from you without notifying them; or hide a comment from your own view of a post. Use them — they're there so you don't have to wait for us.
9. Imports from other services
Vued can import a Letterboxd data export or an IMDb ratings export that you download and hand to the app. We never ask for your credentials for those services and never connect to them for you. By importing a file you confirm it's your own data and that you're allowed to bring it here. Matching your imported titles to films and shows is automatic and won't always be right; check the results.
10. Third-party content
TMDB. Film and TV titles, posters, artwork, cast, and metadata come from The Movie Database. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. That material belongs to TMDB and its contributors — your licence to use Vued does not give you any rights in it, and their terms apply to it.
Trailers. Trailers play through an embedded YouTube player. When you press play, YouTube's and Google's terms and privacy policy apply to that playback.
Sign-in providers. If you sign in with Apple or Google, their terms govern that sign-in.
We don't control any of these and aren't responsible for them.
11. What's ours
The Vued app, this website, the name and wordmark, the design, and the ranking system are ours and are protected by intellectual property law. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. Nothing here transfers ownership of anything.
12. Availability and changes
We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. We aim to keep Vued available but we don't promise uninterrupted service. If we discontinue Vued entirely we'll give reasonable notice so you can export your data.
We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use Vued afterwards means you accept it. Otherwise the date at the top of this page is the record.
13. No warranties
Vued is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that scores or recommendations will suit you, or that title metadata from TMDB is accurate or complete.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of Vued — whether the claim is in contract, tort, or anything else, and even if we'd been warned it was possible.
Because Vued is free, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to US$100.
These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnity. You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from content you post or from your breach of these Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of Vued is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction.
If you're a consumer in the EEA or the UK, this doesn't take away your right to rely on the mandatory consumer protection law of the country you live in, or to bring proceedings in your local courts.
16. Ending this agreement
You can leave at any time. Delete your account in Settings → Manage account. That permanently deletes your account and your content — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what goes. It isn't reversible, so export anything you want to keep first.
We can suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if keeping it open would put other users at risk. Sections 5 (the licence you granted, for content that legitimately survives), 11, 13, 14, 15, and 18 continue to apply after this agreement ends.
17. Apple App Store terms
Vued is distributed through Apple's App Store. The following applies between you and us, and Apple requires it be said:
- These Terms are between you and us only, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Vued or its content.
- Your licence to use Vued is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules — including any sharing allowed under Family Sharing.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Vued. Support requests go to support@vuedapp.com.
- If Vued fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund your purchase price — which for Vued is zero, since the app is free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to Vued.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Vued, including product liability claims, any claim that Vued fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar law.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and defending any third-party claim that Vued infringes that party's intellectual property rights.
- You confirm you're not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you're not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list.
- You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using Vued — including YouTube's terms when you play a trailer.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this section and may enforce it against you.
18. General
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about Vued.
- If any part is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it.
- You can't assign this agreement; we may assign it as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Nothing here creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship.
